Reading vs listening

Readers can re-read; listeners cannot. Scripts for the ear use short sentences, one idea per sentence, contractions, concrete words, and repetition of the key phrase. Sub-clauses and parentheses die in audio.

Voiceover pipeline: script, voice, direction, master, deliver

Timing

Conversational narration runs about 150 words per minute; ad reads 160–180; course narration 130–145. A 60-second spot is 140–160 words. Time the script before generating; cut to length in the script, never by speeding the audio.

Marks

Pauses: a line break for a short pause, “…” for a beat, a blank line for a section pause. Emphasis: bold the one word per sentence that carries it. Pronunciations: spell phonetically in brackets (“Juniper & Gold [JOO-nih-per]”; brand names, surnames, acronyms spelled out or spoken). Numbers written as spoken (“one twenty-nine dollars”).

Structure for common jobs

  • Explainer (60–120 s): the problem in one line, what it is, how it works in three steps, the result, the CTA.
  • Ad read (30 s): hook, the offer, one proof, the CTA with the URL spoken clearly twice.
  • Podcast intro (15–20 s): show name, host, one line on what it is for, the episode tease.
  • Course module: welcome, what you will do, the content in sections with a recap line, next step.

Read it aloud

Every script is read aloud by you before generation. Tongue-twisters, ambiguous words (“read”, “live”), and sentences that need a breath get fixed here.
