Full lesson & technical details
One signed source of truth for every date, time, place and name; then a style (palette, type pair, motif) decided once so every piece matches.
The fact sheet is the contract
Every piece reads its facts from one sheet the couple approved by email: names and pronunciations, hosts, each event with day, date, time, venue name and full address, dress code, rain plan, RSVP deadline and method, registry links, room blocks and deadlines, shuttle schedule, kids policy, parking, contacts, hashtag. Change the sheet, re-proof the pieces; never edit a fact in one piece only.
Interview (20 minutes)
How they met in their words (for the website), the tone they want (formal, relaxed, playful), what guests always ask (“can I bring my kids?”, “what do I wear?”), what they do not want (a hashtag with “forever”, religious wording, the word “nuptials”), and the style words (beach, modern, garden).
Style decision
Palette (two colors plus a neutral), a type pair (a script or serif display with a clean sans), one motif (a palm line, a monogram, a wave), paper feel (matte, textured). Record it in a one-page style sheet; every Canva piece uses it. Avoid stock couple photos; use theirs or illustration.
Etiquette, simply
Hosts named first if parents host; “together with their families” otherwise. Full names on the invitation; nicknames on the website. Time written in words on formal invitations (“half past four”), numerals elsewhere. RSVP deadline three to four weeks before. Dress code as a phrase guests understand (“beach formal: suits without jackets welcome; sundresses; no stilettos on the lawn”).
Dates on paper
Write the day of the week with the date everywhere. The most common wedding print error is a date that falls on the wrong weekday.

Then a one-page style sheet: palette (two colors + neutral with hex), a type pair available in Canva, one motif, paper feel, and five tone words. List their do-not list verbatim.
